Meditation (Transcript)

Welcome, everyone.
So lovely to be with you.

What a magical thing to be.
To perceive the body breathing, perceiving sounds, sensations within the body.
This magical awareness.
Invisible to the senses.
And yet, without it, what would this be?

To awaken to this reality.
Awakening to the invisible reality.
We shift from the outward to the stillness to this magical source.

Where the mind stops.
Where your entire history comes to an end.
Your complete absence.
And yet, full presence.
Not as somebody, but as this mystery which is aware.
An aware mystery.

Beyond the mind, beyond opposites, where only God is appearing in its infinite forms.
The sound of the train.
Sensations in the face.
Sunrise and sunset where there is nothing to hold on to.
Where you are face to face with your complete absence.
No one there to hold on to anything.

So there is no intention, no intention to get anything or gain anything.
But to die to everything.
Die to this moment, in this moment, as nothing and no one.

Your personal stories are an echo, a whisper, a breeze.
Landing nowhere.
Leading nowhere.
Coming from nowhere.
It matters not.

What are you here to comprehend?
How will you comprehend?
With what?
Who will comprehend?
And what for?
Where are you coming from?
And going to?

But to surrender all the accumulated baggage, stories, beliefs, and opinions.
To let it all be reflection on the surface of a pond.

The Sufis say: wherever my eyes fall is the face of God.
My eyes are God’s eyes.
All eyes.
One eye.
God’s eye.

Really, we seek the end of suffering.
But we don’t seek our end, we want to continue.
We want to be somebody without suffering.
A good, happy person.

You need to awaken to this illusion.
Or else it continues to pull you by the nose.

You have to be willing to give up everything.
You cannot give up that which is real.
It is ungiveable.

And to meet everything with not knowing.
So there is no distance between you and that which you meet.

In an open field.
In an open space.
To be available to all of it.
Nothing hidden.
Bringing it all forward.
Complete honesty.
Meeting oneself completely.
The good, the bad.
What you like.
What you don’t like.
What you’re hiding.

To bring it all forward to yourself, to see it.
And in this seeing, there is honesty.

To see where we are hiding.
Where we are grasping.
Where we are confused.
To bring it all forth.
Not seeking a resolution.
Seeking nothing.
No seeking.
Just being completely surrendered to God.
To the unknown.

Allowing the revelation to reveal itself.
Not to you.
Nothing for you.
Just reveals itself to itself.
Not to you.

You are the sacrificial lamb.
Once you go down that path, you can’t save yourself.
Because anything that you save is temporary.
Because it is something.
When all things are temporary.
No matter how precious.

Only that which is not a thing is not temporary.
When it’s beyond saving or not saving.

So there is no need to occupy yourself and preoccupy yourself with trivialities.

Empty-handed, but the heart is full.
Full with the mystery.
God’s love.

Because you cannot deny love or move away from it.
You cannot divide and separate anything.

Notice the breath.
The depth, this still, silent movement.
It goes unnoticed.

Let it all go.
Allow yourself not to know.
To not know.

As if you’re suspended in the space.
You may be uncomfortable.
You don’t move away.
Where would you go?

Q&A (Audio + Transcript)

So, if you have any questions, anything that you would like to explore, to share, please let’s go ahead.

Any questions?

Hi, Magdi.

Hello, Philomene.

The words “let’s go” seem so simple, but I don’t find it simple.

Well, what you can notice is what you’re holding on to.

And you can go into your mind and notice the thoughts about me.
And you go into your body and notice the places of resistance in your body,
the places of hiding in your body.

So in the noticing, there is a freedom,
so the letting go is a noticing of grasping your resistance, your beliefs, your attachments.
And you shift from the material to the spiritual,
from the form to the formless.

But it’s most difficult with unbearable pain in the body.
So that’s asking so much attention.
I find it very difficult.

Oh, yeah, so you are the attention.
You are the light, the shining light.
With the pain in the body, we don’t struggle.
The light does not struggle.
The light shines, and then the mind takes care of the pain the best way possible.

So you rest in the shining light.
You rest in the attention without a story.
Can you do that?

I try that, but you’re right, there is mostly yet a story.
If there’s pain, “what did I do wrong?”
And so on and so on.

So then you are no longer in the attention.

So the attention is non-physical.
The story is physical.
It’s about a physical me, a physical entity.

Is it a doorway to freedom then?

Yes, yes, yes, it is a doorway to freedom.
The attention, the attention without intention.
It requires courage and trust and fearlessness and willingness,
a readiness. You don’t postpone.

Okay, I will trust.
Yes.

Okay.

With your entire being, completely.
Don’t hold back.

Okay, I try again.
Don’t give power to the mind or to time.

What do you mean by time?

The future.
No future?

Yeah, it’s a fear for the future that I will always have pain.

Yes. The story.

Open your body.
Don’t contract around anything in the body.
Relax your belly.
Be available.

Yeah, that sounds beautiful.

Be available.

Okay.

Hola, Jenny.

Hola, Magdi.

So when we are talking about letting go,
isn’t there someone there letting go?

Is there?

No, I don’t think so.

There is someone whenever there is grasping.

I am just wondering if any little desire to change what is
implies the idea of separation for me.

Yes. Until you realize that you are the creator,
that you are the absolute will,
that you are the divine will.
Until there is that realization,
anything that you try to change arises out of separation.

Well, I don’t understand the difference between wanting to change the health of the body
and a conditioning of the mind.

There is a wanting to change that arises out of God’s whisper,
and there is a wanting to change that arises out of separation.

The wanting to change out of God’s whisper is God’s will.
The one to change out of the me-belief is God’s will
that is being reflected through the sense of separation.
In all cases, it is God’s will.

But in one case, there is a purity.
In the other case, there is ignorance.
It is for you to discern
whether behind your desire to change
there is a seed of fear,
a seed of personal concern about me in the future.

There is a pure concern and there is an impure concern.
There is a concern that arises out of intelligence
that has no fear in it.

The fear—that’s what gives it away.
It just needs to be seen.

So there is an honesty with oneself and an interest in meeting oneself truly,
to seeing through the shadow in the background.
That’s another gateway to freedom—
by detecting the fear, facing it, and going through it.

Like existential fear.
There can be some temporary fear that arises out of a very specific situation,
but it has no lasting sense.
It’s not sustained.
I’m talking about this fear that’s more existential,
fear in the background.

Thank you, Maggie.

Okay, Jenny. Good to see you.

Good to see you.

Any questions?

Thank you all.
