Dear Jeff, please let me know if this works better (on your Android phone):
Hello, everyone.
Lovely to be with you
and to share this
presence
that which we are
which is sharing itself already.
Invite yourself
for the duration of this meeting
to suspend the past.
Meaning
not to interfere with your experience
whichever way it’s appearing
right now.
Whatever is appearing on the screen
whatever thoughts appear to you
whatever sensations
whatever images
let them be.
Don’t try to figure anything out.
Don’t try to fix anything.
Don’t try to improve your experience.
Let it be.
Let things be.
Let yourself be.
Take a break.
Whatever appears is okay
whatever sensations appears
thoughts
don’t worry.
You’re okay.
All is well.
Notice that
whatever appears to you
are just fleeting
passing
impermanent images.
You’re not fabricating them.
They simply appear to you
from wherever their source is
wherever they appear from.
Who cares right now?
Contemplate that:
although it may seem
that what appears to you
affects you or impacts you
in fact, it doesn’t.
At least be open to that possibility:
that whatever takes place in the body
whatever takes place in the world
whatever takes place in the mind
in a way
and to a certain extent
is not too relevant.
It’s not relevant to that which you are.
And in your experience right now
the body is male or female body.
The voice you are hearing is a male voice.
But none of this defines you.
Whether you are perceiving
a lake
a mountain, or
a city
or the wide open sky
you are the same effortless awareness.
That’s how it is.
Thoughts appear and disappear.
Memories.
Bodies constantly changing;
in deep sleep, they disappear.
Upon the death of the body
the body disappears.
But could we be available
to the possibility that I neither appear
nor disappear?
Can we relax our identification
with the body, with the mind?
It’s not necessary
here right now
in particular.
No need for any identification.
There is no need to visualize
yourself as a person
as somebody
as a daughter
a son.
Simply notice
effortless being
effortless awareness
which is neither female nor male
not seeking anything
simply shining
the shining light of awareness.
When you look at the moon
you see the moon shine
and you believe that
the moon is shining
but it is the sun that is shining.
Everything that you perceive
it is awareness
consciousness that is shining.
There is peace and freedom
in the understanding
that you are
this formless awareness
without denying that there are male and female bodies
that there are events in the world.
There’s no need to deny
the waves on the surface of the ocean.
There’s no need to deny the currents
within the ocean.
But what is the reality of the waves
and what is the reality of the currents?
What is the reality of your thoughts
of your perceptions
of your sensations right now?
You have to answer right now
without using the mind
because the mind lives in time
in the past
in history.
It is ruminating stuff.
It regurgitates stuff.
So you invite yourself
to your innate freedom
without defining yourself
by what is appearing
on the screen.
When you take a look
at your experience right now
you perceive perceptions
you perceive sensations
you perceive the thought
that I am this person.
I am a person.
I am a man.
I am a woman.
You perceive that.
Why believe something you perceive?
It is sufficient to acknowledge
that I perceive that thought.
In the dream
you perceive yourself to be a butterfly.
Why believe that you are a butterfly?
You perceive yourself to be a butterfly
a beautiful butterfly
going from flower to flower.
So exciting.
Or you may perceive yourself ailing.
The body is sick
or losing your fortune in your dream.
You are perceiving
and the perceiver is not perceived.
It’s invisible to the senses.
And yet you cannot deny
the fact of perception
and you cannot deny
that you perceive.
But this you
which perceives
is not something you imagine.
It is the direct experience
of perceiving right now.
If you take a look
that which perceives is invisible
and yet everything it perceives
is in complete intimacy
with the perceiving aspect
with the perceiver.
The world
the thoughts
the sensations
you perceive
are made out of you.
This is why the sages say that
you are nobody and everybody.
You are nothing and everything.
You are not separate from the universe.
The universe is not separate from you.
But take a look
in your belief structure
you believe yourself to be
this particular body mind.
I am this and not that.
I am this and not that.
Where did that come from?
Why do we choose
I am this and not that?
I am this body
but I am not the oak tree.
I am this mind
but I am not the wide open sky.
I am not the wind.
I am not the rain.
Don’t be so sure.
Science has already
made some headway
in the direction of one reality
which in the old days
they referred to as matter.
Doesn’t matter how you refer to it.
It’s one reality.
One.
This one movement
one flow
one interactive field.
Of course
we are talking about the phenomenal realm
because scientists study phenomena.
One interactive field.
An event that happens
in galaxies that are
a billion light years away
is simultaneously happening
across the entire galactic field.
What?
Yes.
Our puny mind
linear mind
hypnotized by the belief
that I’m born and that I’m going to die.
Oh my God!
What is going to happen to me
after I die?
What is this me?
Body is dying every second.
From the moment it’s born
it’s in the process of dying.
What’s the big mystery there?
Look at the rose from the rosebud
the beautiful rose
which we put in a vase
with some food for the roses
a few days later
the petals gently fall off the stem.
Why do we hold on so tightly
to something which we are not?
Grasping.
We grasp out of fear.
The fear of ending?
Have you asked yourself
what is it that ends?
What is it that begun?
Where did I come from?
There is a Zen koan
that asks:
what is your face
before your birth?
You do not exist in time.
And time appears to you.
You need to free yourself
from the belief
and impression
that you exist in time.
Time and space.
